Thomas Richard “Tom” Pyatt, 73, of Commiskey, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Sellersburg Health Center in Sellersburg.
Born June 16, 1951, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Charles Pyatt and Mary (King) Ahlbrand. He married Carol Peacock on December 24, 1974, at Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing; she preceded him in death on January 24, 2022.
Tom was a 1969 graduate of Columbus Senior High in Columbus. He worked for Bloomington Supply in Bloomington, True Value in Brownstown, was an electrician, carpenter and built houses. In high school Tom played softball, football and was in the band. Tom was a member of United Christian Church in Paris Crossing and Bowling leagues in Seymour. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and camping. Tom loved to vacation all over the United States with his kids and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sons, Todd Pyatt and Cary (Christina) Pyatt, both of Commiskey; sisters, Deanna Smith of Nashville, Ginny Roberts of Columbus, and Mary Jo Nentrup of Largo, Florida; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sons, Wayne and Richard “RT” Pyatt; stepfather, Louis Ahlbrand; brothers, Bill, Mike, and Daniel Pyatt; sister, Carol Pyatt; granddaughter, Diamond Pyatt; and great-grandson, Hunter Pyatt.
A funeral service for Tom will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Jimmy Butters officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery in Paris Crossing.
Memorials in honor of Tom may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
