Tommy McIntosh Obituary

Tommy McIntosh, 84, North Vernon, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his residence.

Born August 5, 1940, in Bowllington, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ray and Lillie (Bowling) McIntosh. He married Sandra Lenz on December 7, 1963, in Anchorage, Alaska; she survives.

Tommy was a 1961 graduate of North Vernon High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. Tommy worked for the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department for 33 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church where he had served as an Elder and President of the Church, and a member of Six Mile Masonic Lodge #412. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, watching football, especially the Raiders, Colts, and Bronco’s. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving with his wife, Sandra; are sons, Tommy Ray McIntosh of North Vernon and Timothy Scott McIntosh of Vernon; daughter, Katherine (Billy Stewart) McIntosh of North Vernon; brothers, Eddie (Linda) McIntosh and Jessie (Patty) McIntosh both of Austin, and Robert McIntosh of North Vernon; sisters, Anna Sue (Larry) Dunham of North Vernon and Cleo Norris of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Kristie (James) West of Scottsburg, Misty (Ryan Meek) Dickerson, Sandra (Cory Mullikin) McIntosh, Sara McIntosh, Davin McIntosh, Alicia Rodriquez and D.J. Rodriquez, all of North Vernon and Rae Lynn (Tyler) Henthorne of Seymour; fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon McIntosh Dickinson; brothers, Shafter, Chester, and Johnny McIntosh; and sisters, Margaret Pitts and Lillie Belle McIntosh.

A funeral service for Tommy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post #2021, V.F.W.

Memorials may be made in honor of Tommy through the funeral home to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
