Troy Haddix, 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Norton King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Born January 30, 1944, in Frozen Creek, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Aurthur and Emma (Smith) Haddix. He married Ella Virginia Pitts on December 20, 1969, in Livingston, Tennessee; she survives.
Troy was a high school graduate and had a degree in conservation. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968, serving two tours in Vietnam. Troy worked as a purchase parts inspector for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 34 years. He was a member of the Hayden Baptist Church. Troy enjoyed fishing and dancing.
Surviving with his wife, Ella Virginia, are his sons, George L. Christy of Madison and William R. “Rusty” (Debbie) Christy of Tennessee; sisters, Carolyn Sue Martin and Della Gilpin, both of Columbus; and granddaughter, Ashley Christy of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nyleen Nancy Haddix; his twin brother, Roy; triplet sisters, Stella, Ella, and Nella; and siblings, Elmer, Ollie, John, Flossie, Mossie, and Marge.
A funeral service for Troy will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Mark Sorrells officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post #2021, V.F.W.
Memorials in honor of Troy may be made through the funeral home to Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp.
