Tyler James Wells, 20, of Commiskey, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in North Vernon.
Born September 19, 2004, in Columbus, he was the son of Joshua Wells and Kelly (Frey) Wells.
Tyler graduated from Jennings County High School in 2024 and had attended computer technology training at the Southeastern Career Center in Versailles. He worked for ResCare in North Vernon, was a member of the Black Cat Racing Team at Jennings County High School, and he did MMA wrestling and Ju Jit Su. He loved racing, cats, building computers, video games, Transformers, and Lego’s.
He is survived by his father, Joshua (Carri Hubble) Wells of Commiskey; mother, Kelly (Scott Roth) Wells of North Vernon; brother, Brantley Wells of Commiskey; sisters, Alyssa Wells of Santa Clarita, California and Delaney Wells of Commiskey; grandparents, Terry and Carolyn Frey of Bloomington and Bonnie and James Wells of Commiskey; uncles, James (Mindy Osborne) Wells of Commiskey, Chris Frey of Versailles, and Steve (Sherry) Frey of Scottsburg; aunts, Karissa Frey of Atlanta, Georgia and Sasha (Andrew) Nelson of Shelbyville; cousins, Gabe (Paige Davidson) Wells of Seymour, Jacob Frey and Brandon Lee McCune of North Vernon, and Whitney and Michael Frey, Kayla Barnes, Cameron Lewis, and Mariah Loynes, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and his Black Cat Racing Team.
He is preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Marjorie Fox and Elleree Wells; great grandfather, Arthur O. Wells; and great uncle, Jack Colwell.
The funeral for Tyler will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Rev. Jake Ross officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Hopewell Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations for Tyler may be made through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses or to Black Cat Racing Team.
