Virginia Marie (Monday) Lamb

Virginia Marie Lamb, 84, of Butlerville, passed away at 6:18 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at her residence.

Born April 3, 1939, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late William McKinley and Dolly Marilda (Lawrence) Monday. She married James “Bubby” Lamb on October 26, 1959, in North Vernon; he survives.

Virginia was a 1958 graduate of Vernon High School and worked as a truck driver for over 30 years with her husband. She had also worked for NAC in North Vernon. Virginia was a member of the Christ Community Church in Butlerville and Coffee Creek Conservation Club in Commiskey. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, and going gambling on the casino boats.  Virginia loved spending time with her family and playing euchre with them.

Surviving with her husband, James, are her children, Kathy Earl, Becky (David) Goins, Teresa Lamb, Tami (Gary) Miller and  AJ (Karen) Lamb, all of Butlerville; brothers, Richard Monday, Kenneth (Pam) Monday, Jerry Monday, Bill (Debbie) Monday, and Harold Dean Monday, all of North Vernon; sisters, Hattie Rothert of Lovett, JoAnn Combest, Martha Lacey, and Linda Ross, all of North Vernon, and Gloria (Mondel) Browning of Madison; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Timothy Cummings; son-in-law, Gregory Earl; brothers, Harold and Alva Eugene Monday; sister, Judy Canary; and an infant sister.

The funeral service for Virginia will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Christ Community Church in Butlerville with the Pastor Dezmien Williams officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. A burial will follow in the Rush Branch Cemetery in Butlerville.

Memorials may be made in honor of Virginia through the funeral home to the Christ Community Church Youth Camp.
