William Townsend Davidson, 81, of Deputy, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. in Bargersville.
Born October 9, 1938 in Jefferson County, he was the son of Reuben “Buck” Davidson and Lillian (Boggie) Davidson. He married Dixie Gaye and she preceded him in death on November 22, 1961.
William was a 1956 graduate of Paris Crossing High School. He worked at the Jennings County Trustees Office, Browning Excavation, Cummins Engine Co., was a maintenance supervisor at the Methodist Home in Franklin and was a barber, farmer, and school bus driver. He enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening, hunting, driving tractors, raising hogs, running dozers, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughters, Janie (Earl) Taggart of North Vernon, Christie Dunn of Trafalgar, and Donna (Andy) Melloh of Bargersville; a step son, Brandon Smith of Deputy; grandchildren, Wesley William Ryan (Tim) Webb of Columbus, Benjamin (Jacelyn) Etter of Brown County, Nathaniel David (Beka) Webb of Alert, Weston Lynn (Stefani) Wray of Trafalgar, and Haley Brianne (Cody) Fortney of Lexington, IN; great grandchildren, Kaleb Etter of Columbus, Lulu Belle and Johnathon Webb of Alert, Lux, Sky, Sloan, and Palmer Wray of Trafalgar, and Clayton Fortney of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, David Davidson; brother, Roger Ross Davidson “Cobb”; sisters, Betty Lou Nickins and Anita Lee LaFountain.
The funeral for Mr. Davidson will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Michael LaFountain officiating. The visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18 from 4 – 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
