William Floyd Moreland Jr., 64 of Commiskey, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his residence.
Born July 23, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Floyd Sr. and Joyce Early. William married Loretta “Sue” Hammontree on September 12, 1981, in Delray Beach, Florida.
William attended school in Mitchell, Indiana and was a U.S. National Guard veteran. He retired from a twenty-five-year career as a roofer. His hobbies included chiseling wood, making bird houses and tending to his vegetable garden. William enjoyed spending time walking in nature and building campfires.
Survivors include his wife; mother; sons, Lucas (Alison) Moreland of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, and Wesley Moreland of Denver, Colorado; daughters Rebecca (Cory) Ordway of Commiskey; brothers, Phillip Moreland and Tommy Moreland of Gunbarrel, Texas, Robert (Ginger) Moreland and Frank Moreland of Deridder, Louisiana; sisters, Becky (Paul) Moreland of Kearney, Missouri, Connie (John) Chin of Mesquite, Texas, and Barbara (Danny) of Gunbarrel, Texas; grandchildren, Ella Rose and Zackary Moreland of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, and Matthew Ordway of Commiskey.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Jimmy Moreland.
A visitation for William’s family and friends will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Rudicel Family Event Center in North Vernon.
