William Raymond "Wild Bill" Sheppard

William Raymond “Wild Bill” Sheppard, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Vivera Senior Living in Columbus.

Born June 16, 1960, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Jack and Edith (Winchester) Sheppard.

William retired from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. He loved fishing, cooking out with his friends and family, and cheeseburgers.

He is survived by his brothers, John (Ramona) Sheppard of North Vernon, Richard (Charlesa) Sheppard of Westport, Jack (Jolea) Sheppard of Moravia, Iowa, Jason Sheppard of Shelbyville, Ralph Owens of Morristown, and Harley James; sisters, Jackie James of Columbus, Monica James of North Vernon, and Jessica Sheppard of Shelbyville; cousins, Crystal Jones, Cecelia Jones, Penny Jones, and Melina Stillinger, all of North Vernon; and a host of other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, David Sheppard, Kenny Sheppard, and George Sheppard; and his sister, Angie Calbert.

In keeping with his and his family’s wishes, cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon was entrusted to the care of these arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of William through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
