William Charles “Butch” McCollum, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his residence.
Born July 21, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Charles and Laura (Price) McCollum. He married Joan Kersey in Jennings County; she survives.
Butch was a 1963 graduate of Princeton High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and served in the U.S. Air Force. He held a certification in HVAC and owned/operated the Silver Dollar Saloon in North Vernon. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and was a member of the Versailles American Legion Post and Am Vet’s Post #7 in North Vernon. Butch enjoyed fishing, playing poker and cards. He was a Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals fan.
Surviving with his wife, Joan; are his sons, William Charles “Chase” McCollum and Matthew L. McCollum, both of Cincinnati. Ohio; daughter, Melanie McCollum Kaiser of Cincinnati, Ohio; stepson, Robert McClain of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Kameron McCollum, Luke Kaiser and Lillian Kaiser, all of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph McCollum; and a sister, Cynthia Cruise.
A funeral service for Butch will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private Burial.
