Yvonne (New) Hatfield

Yvonne Hatfield, 86, of Scipio, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Born June 23, 1939, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Albert Maple and Frances Irene (Richey) New. She married Kyle Patrick Hatfield, on June 28, 1957, in Greenfield; he preceded her in death on December 11, 2020.

Yvonne was a 1957 graduate of Greenfield High School and attended I.U.P.U.I Central in Indianapolis for one year. She worked for 18 years for Columbus Bank in Columbus as a Commercial Note Teller before retiring in 1993. Yvonne was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Browns Corner Chapel. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cross stitching, crafts, playing golf, water skiing, and working puzzles. Yvonne loved spending time with her family, baking loaves of bread to deliver to shut ins and knitting hats for cancer patients.

She is survived by her sons, Robert New (Cindy Richardson) Hatfield of Scipio and Brian (Debbie) Hatfield of North Vernon; grandchildren, Cristi Hatfield, Craig Hatfield, Sarah (Jon) Dyer, Melissa (Ryan) Edwards, Kyle (Nikki) Hatfield, Helen (Craig) Archer, Erika Swindell, B.J. (Tasi) Shaw, and Ryne (Whitney) Shaw; twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Marty Lynn Shaw; and sister, Margaret Zapf.

A funeral service for Yvonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The burial will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery in Jennings County.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Yvonne to Interim Hospice in Scottsburg.
