Keith Allen Bayes

Keith Allen Bayes, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence.

Born February 16, 1935 in Lafayette, Mr. Bayes was the son of the late Willard Bill and Guthra Mahan Bayes. He married Nesiamae Bridges on December 27, 1987 in Tennessee; she survives.

Mr. Bayes was a 1953 graduate of New Washington High School and a graduate of Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Bayes worked for Kabco Construction of North Vernon retiring 2010, and was owner of Bayes Construction in Scottsburg. He was member of the Methodist Church in Scottsburg, attended First Marion Baptist Church in Jennings County and a member of Petroleum Marketers Association. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Surviving with his wife Nesiamae are son, Gordon (Kathy) Bayes of Scottsburg; daughters, Riley Jo Bayes of Scottsburg, Lorna (John) Conder of Underwood and Evelyn (Bob Couey)  Alsup of Anchorage, Alaska; step-sons, John (Stacey) Graham of Hayden and Steven Graham of North Vernon; brother, Duane (Sandy) Bayes of Marysville; sisters, Shirley White and Lana (Darrell) Sarver both of Marysville; grandchildren, Katie Conder of Underwood, BJ Arbuckle, Brooke (Rick) Johnson and Mandy (Jared) Petersen all of Scottsburg, Ally (Brock) Alsup of Indianapolis, Matt Bayes of Austin and Annie Couey of Anchorage, Alaska; step-grandchild, Skyler Bayes of North Vernon and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service for Mr. Bayes will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  and 12:00 p.m. (noon) until time of service on Wednesday . Burial will be in the First Marion Baptist Cemetery in Jennings County.

Memorials may be made to the First Marion Baptist Church Youth through the funeral home.
